Built to be used, not just to pass.

This statement describes how the site is built, what we know still falls short, and how to get anything we publish in a format that works for you.

The standard we build to

This site is built to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. That is a floor rather than an achievement — the people who use this site include representatives working at speed, caseworkers using assistive technology, and applicants reading in a second language on a phone.

What that means in practice

  • Semantic headings and landmarks, so a screen reader can move through a page by structure.
  • Every control reachable and operable by keyboard, with a visible focus outline that is never suppressed.
  • A skip link to the main content as the first focusable element on every page.
  • Text and interface contrast tested against AA thresholds, including on the dark and claret bands.
  • Touch targets of at least 44 by 44 pixels, with form labels always visible rather than placeholder-only.
  • Motion limited to short fades; everything animated respects the operating system's reduced-motion setting.
  • Form errors announced in text next to the field, never signalled by colour alone.
  • Layouts that reflow to 320px and survive text resizing to 200% without loss of content.

What we know is not perfect

Photography on this site is decorative and captioned; if a caption is unclear on a screen reader, tell us and we will rewrite it.

Documents we send in the course of an instruction — reports and annexes — are not yet audited to the same standard. We will supply a tagged or plain-text version on request at no charge.

Alternative formats

Large print, plain text, and accessible document versions of anything we publish or send are available on request. Where an applicant needs a report explained in plain language, we will do that in writing rather than assume it has been understood.

Tell us about a barrier

Email info@asylumreports.com with the page and what happened. We aim to reply within one working day and to fix genuine barriers rather than log them. If something blocks you from making an enquiry, say so and we will take the enquiry by email instead.
